İç Mimarlık serüveni sizin için nasıl başladı? (How did the adventure of Interior Architecture begin for you?)

Eğitimim öncesinde bütünlüğe, oran orantıya, renk ve dokuya merakım ve hakimiyetimin olduğunu düşünürüm. Fakat eğitim modelinin, sizin yerinize karar verdiği sistemlerde, becerinize, beklentilerinize, keyif alacağınız bir kariyere sahip olmak gerçekten şans. Ben de bu şansı iyi değerlendirdim ve tasarıma sıkıca tutunup bu serüveni bırakmadım ve hayatımın parçası yaptım.

Before my education, I used to think that I had a curiosity and mastery of integrity, proportion, color, and texture. But in systems where the education model decides for you, it’s a really rare chance to have a career you’ll enjoy with your skills and your expectations. I also took advantage of this chance and held on tightly to the design. Besides, I did not let go of this adventure and made it a part of my life.

Tasarım çizginizi, işlerinizi tanımlayan en iyi sözcükler/cümle ne? ( What are the best words/phrases to describe your design line, your work?)

TEAM Proje olarak, temelde yalın detaylara sahip, çok sesli malzeme seçimleriyle tasarımı zenginleştirdiğimiz veya az sesli malzeme seçimleriyle sadeleştirdiğimiz, net ama güçlü bir tasarım anlayışımız var.

As TEAM Project, we have a clear but strong design approach, which basically enriches the design with simple details and dominant material selections or simplified it with low-noise material selections.

Türkiye’de mimarlığın gelişimini ve bugün geldiği noktayı nasıl değerlendirirsiniz? Gündemin şekillendirdiği mimarlık eğilimleri neler? (How would you evaluate the development of architecture in Turkey and the point it has reached today? What are the architectural trends shaped by the agenda?)

Türkiye’de mimarlık serüveninin çok akıcı olduğu söylemek mümkün değil. Onun için geldiğimiz noktanın evrensel değerlerden biraz geride olduğunu söyleyebilirim.

Tasarım ve tasarımcı olmak bireysel bir gelişim olsa da toplumsal değerde bir yaklaşım geliştirebilseydik (veya bundan sonra geliştirebilirsek) hem kamusal hem de bireysel olarak daha nitelikli proje talepleri üretebiliriz. Taleplerin niteliği arttıkça tasarımcıların üretkenliği ve değeri aynı oranda artacaktır.

It is not possible to say that the adventure of architecture in Turkey is very fluent. Therefore, I can say that the point we have reached is slightly behind the universal values.

Although the design and being a designer is individual development, if we could develop an approach of social value (or if we could develop it later), we could generate more qualified project demands both publicly and individually. As the quality of demands increases, the productivity and value of designers will increase at the same rate.

Teknolojinin beraberinde getirdiği dijitalleşme, yalnızlık, yalınlık ve tüm bunların etkilediği yeni nesil düşünce ve yaşam biçimleri günlük hayatımıza adım adım girerken, insanlığın son 1,5 yıllık ortak derdi olan pandemi sebebiyle bu kavramlar hem bireysel yaşamımızı hem de iş hayatımızı daha hızlı şekillendirmeye başladı. Tasarımla ilgili olan tüm disiplinlerde bu yeni sürece adapte olurken, bu eğilimler üzerinden, olası senaryolar ve gelecek için fikirler oluşturmaya çalışıyor.

While digitalization, loneliness, simplicity, and the new generation of thoughts and lifestyles influenced by all these, entered our daily lives step by step, these notions started to shape both our individual lives and our business lives faster due to the pandemic, which has been the common problem of humanity for the last 1.5 years. All disciplines are related to design; while adapting to this new process, it tries to create possible scenarios and ideas for the future.

Küresel çerçevede yaşanan sorunlar ve değişimler (pandemi, mülteci sorunu, küresel ısınma, yeni teknolojiler, vb.) ekseninde mimarlığın nasıl bir evrim geçireceğini tahmin ediyorsunuz? (How do you predict the evolution of architecture in the axis of the problems and changes in the global framework (pandemic, refugee problem, global warming, new technologies, etc.)?)

Her biri farklı konular olsa da -sağlık-savaş-doğa-arayış- hepsi insan kaynaklı olduğu için ve temelinde insanoğlunun bireysel veya toplumsal bencilliğinden kaynaklandığı için benzer sürece ve sonuca hizmet ediyorlar. Ve bu birbirine bağlı zincirler kırılmaz ise, toplumların daha içe dönük, az paylaşımcı -korumacılık dürtüsü ve teknolojinin büyük desteği ile- fiziki sosyalleşmeden uzak, dijital sosyalleşmenin yapay zekâ tarafından oluşturulduğu bir çerçevede tamamen kişiselleştirilmiş yeni bir yaşam döngüsüne gireceğiz.

Although each of them are different subjects like health, war, nature, and searching; they serve a similar process and result, since they are all human-induced and are basically caused by human beings’ individual or social selfishness. If these interconnected chains are not broken, we will enter a new life cycle that is more introverted, less sharing, protectionist, and far from physical socialization with the great support of technology, in a framework where digital socialization is created by artificial intelligence.

Mimarlıkta temelinde problem çözme becerisini korurken, eksenine bu kişiselleştirilmiş teknolojiyi alarak evrimine devam edecektir diye düşünüyorum. Tasarım artık malzemeyi ve teknolojiyi kullanarak değil teknoloji şekillendirerek var olmaya devam edecektir.

I think it will continue its evolution by taking this personalized technology as its axis while preserving its problem-solving skills based on architecture. The design will no longer exist by using materials and technology, but by shaping technology.

Duvarda kullanılan malzemelerin mekanın bütününe nasıl bir etkisi olduğunu düşünüyorsunuz?(What effect do you think the materials used on the wall have on the whole place?)

Duvarlar 2. boyuttan başlayarak 3. Boyuta kadar bize eşlik eden tasarımın en önemli enstrümanlardan biri.

Duvarda kullanılan malzemelerin bütüne etkisinden ziyade bütünden ayıran, mekana farklı bir doku ve derinlik katan bir katman yarattığını düşünüyorum. Çünkü mekanda bizi ilk karşılayan, tavan ve zemin gibi yatay düzlemler değil mekanı çevreleyen dikey yüzeylerdir.

Walls are one of the most important instruments of design that accompanies us from the 2nd dimension to the 3rd dimension.

I think that the materials used on the wall create a layer that separates it from the whole rather than its effect on the whole, adding a different texture and depth to the place. Because the first thing that meets us in the place is not horizontal planes like ceiling and floor, but vertical surfaces surrounding the place.

We need different wall designs and materials to create the layer I mentioned that differentiates the place and emphasizes each project’s unique story. This need is not only design, but also sometimes for practicality, sometimes for fast solutions, and sometimes for budgetary reasons. To ensure variety and diversity, we occasionally include wall panels in our projects. While ARTSTONE provides us with difference and diversity, it is included in our designs and applications because it offers realistic, up-to-date, and even its own trends.
